Testimonials
Dear Zahra and Catherine, I loved the book! I find myself constantly re-reading sections, and checking in at various stages of the production pipeline. I ordered "Producing Animation" for all of the Production Managers and Coordinators that I work with and they have also found it extremely beneficial. Sincerest thanks and congratulations on your successful book launch!

Director of Production, Producer Mainframe Entertainment Inc. — Vancouver, Canada www.mainframe.ca Producing Animation has been an ongoing resource for me and my team. It is a pioneering publication for the animation industry. It's not only well written, informative, and accurate but entertaining and extremely well presented with useful graphs, tables, examples, etc. All sides of the industry, from traditional cel to 3D CGI, have been begging for such a book. The book is geared toward [in fact it is almost a roadmap for] those who manage animation productions. It is focused on helping to dispel the great and terribly handicapping lack of knowledge found in management and executive circles within animation studios of all sizes. Just as any manager or producer is better off understanding the technical and creative hurdles that are part of the daily life of production artists, any artist working in animation would be better off with a greater understanding and appreciation of this side of the process. Put simply, this book is an amazing and critical compilation of knowledge about how animation gets produced, and is a must have for any animation library.

President/Exec Producer (and Animator) Pendulum Studios — San Diego, CA www.studiopendulum.com Hi Catherine and Zahra, My name is Jessica Giles. I live in Johannesburg, South Africa. I work for a studio called Firefly Animation Studio and I produce all the work that flows through it. My boss and myself have the ambition of creating an African fully 3d Animated Feature film in the next 2 years. Unfortunately as this is still an emerging industry in our country, I do not have many resources to call on for advice or where to start. We would need both overseas and local investment. And we would also like to try and development the industry further in South Africa by training some more local people and employing more people. I bought your book last year when we attended Siggraph in San Diego ( I think we were the only South Africans there) and I haven't put it down since. It is my bible for getting through the day. At present we mainly produce Television Commercials and are awaiting The Incredibles footage for an Energizer commercial we are doing. (This is where I actually get around to why I am writing to you) I have very much benefited from every little bit of advice you have in your book and to put it simply you guys are my mentors. Thank you so much for your time and your book!!!

Producer Firefly Animation Studio — Johannesberg, South Africa Catherine! The Animation Budget Builder in your "Producing Animation" book has helped me a great deal. I just left a company who had an antiquated budget system and my current company was doing budgets in excel format. Your Animation Budget Builder provided the essential building blocs that I needed to create an efficient budgeting system for my new employer. |
